Sydney Design Award Winner

We are super excited to have been announced as a winner of the Sydney Design Awards for the nsquared digitable55. Of course we always believed we had an awesome digital table product that we know our costumers love. To have the design validated by a panel of design experts makes the team here at nsquared extremely happy.

As a quick reminder of the product and the process of building the product watch this short video about the the nsquared digitable55.

Finally here is a picture of our industrial designer, Hayley Wood, and project director Neil Roodyn collecting the award earlier this week at the design awards event.

Shortlisted for the 2014 Sydney Design Awards

As many of you will know, we've recently launched the nsquared digitable55.
We are excited to be working with a number of customers already but the bigger news for today is that the digitable55 has been officially shortlisted for the 2014 Sydney Design Awards!

You can view the entry (and vote) for the nsquared digitable55 here .

How it all works.

Once our entry was accepted it was open for rating along with the other entries. They will be rated
by the design100 judging panel, respected industry members and the marketplace. Once all ratings are in, the scores will be averaged across the three respective ratings to ensure that the Awards showcase the best entry as determined by all three panels.
Rating closes on 17 August, 2014 and we understand that the top five rated entries in each category will be named finalists. We're hoping to be on the podium with other winners at the Awards Presentation on 20 August 2014. Time will tell...

Connected. Beautiful. Powerful.

We’ve just finalised our latest fantastic project and we’re very proud to announce the new nsquared digitable55It’s connected. It’s beautiful. It’s powerful. And, it's clever.

When we sat down to design our latest digitable we wanted a great looking piece of furniture with digital capacities that were second to none in the space of tabletop computing. We believe we’ve achieved both of those goals and judging by the reception it’s getting, there are a plenty of people who agree with us.

One of the first deployments was last month at The Porter in Sydney. The Porter is a highly activated executive co-working environment that’s full of beautiful, high quality furniture and the most exciting technology for business. The nsquared digitable55 fits right into The Porter’s gracious spaces where it’s being used for sales pitches, business meetings, collaborative planning, and creating better solutions.

The flush tabletop boasts a massively multi-touch 55-inch embedded projected capacitive LED touch screen panel that’s able to respond to at least 200 simultaneous touches in real time.

Powered by the latest Intel i7 chip, a high end dedicated graphics card, and Windows 8.1 kernel, the nsquared digitable55 has been designed so that it can be easily upgraded as and when technology improves. It was really important to us that we create a piece to stand the test of time in terms of aesthetics and functionality. We didn’t want to add to the growing worldwide refuse problem that is being fed by an increasing throwaway culture. The nsquared digitable is anything but throw away.

Its classic, timeless design provides a workspace that’s big enough to comfortably stand or sit at. People around the table can view and annotate digital architectural plans; search online with multiple browsers; brainstorm and capture new ideas; or work with multiple virtual documents. Different files can be open on the table at the same time and viewable from any position. It responds to touch and stylus input, and connects wirelessly and almost seamlessly to your personal devices as well as cloud storage services such as Dropbox and OneDrive. *

*These features are dependent on internet connection and the installed software

Making large format multi-user screens easier to use

Shared screens should be accessible

The face of technology has changed quickly since the invention of the first computers and it continues to do. So that we can continue to get the benefits of the new platform offerings we need to move our management policies forward in keeping with the use case scenarios of the various devices.

Which user should log in?

Large format displays driven by touch input are being placed into meeting rooms, foyers, and other shared spaces. Increasingly they’re placed in these spaces with the specific intent that several people will use them simultaneously and collaboratively without intermediary devices such as the keyboard and mouse.  Multi user screens, particularly those in horizontal format, are designed to enhance conversations and communication. Conversations flow more naturally and meetings can come to resolution more effectively and efficiently.

To provide their full design benefit these devices need to be easily accessible and available for anyone that comes into the space, as are whiteboards, phones and light.

In an enterprise environment this means a couple of things:
1. The large format shared-screen computer should not be domain joined.

2. Any network resources required for the screen to operate need to be provided to the PC that is driving the screen.

This thinking represents a new way forward and a change in the way all computers in an organisation are treated equally. Shared computer experiences are a different use case to personal devices and need to have different permissions set.

nsquared rooms makes booking meeting spaces easy.

Did you know........
..........that nsquared rooms is great for finding available spaces for ad hoc meetings?

Being part of a large organisation can be a great thing. In a big company there is always plenty going on and lots of people with whom to collaborate and learn. It is often hard to find available meeting rooms at short notice. The room booking systems can be overly complicated and support personnel won't have time to make the booking for you that quickly. So you then end up in a noisy café, which is not a good scenario for a confidential chat. What if you could search for, and book a room, as soon as you knew you needed it?
With nsquared rooms you can do just that.

You can find out quickly what rooms are available within your timeframes. Better than that, you can book any of the available rooms all by yourself. It’s all connected to Microsoft Exchange so the information is updated immediately, which means interruption-free meetings.

We’ve seen it used in building foyers, at floor entrances by the elevators, and dotted around university campuses and business estates where they’re being used to great effect. Take a look here to find out more about nsquared rooms.

nsquared maps sends routes to your phone.

Did you know that you can email routes from nsquared map to any device that has email and web access?
nsquared maps is an off the shelf product that is designed to add value to a range of different environments as diverse as Real Estate, Food and Beverage outlets, shopping centres, emergency management centres and tourist information venues. One of the best ways to add value is to include a 'take-away', and having the ability to share map routing information is extremely valuable and useful.

Real Estate sales? Easily add each of your properties to the map with unique graphic identifiers so that your clients and prospects can see how easy it is to move between properties, inspections and amenities.
Emergency Management? quickly add assets and location on the map to ensure that your teams have the information they need so that you can send routing information to personnel on the ground.
Food and Beverage Franchise?  Let people know where you are and where else they can find you. Add the location details to the map and enable your customers to explore their options and record them.
Tourist Information Centres? Quickly add and update information on local attractions and amenities for visitors to your area. Routing information will be as up to date as possible.

In all of these scenarios, being able to create routes between points of interest and take away directions is an important and in some cases life saving benefit. We've cleverly enabled you to do just that as long as your personal device has email and web access. Find out more about nsquared maps here, or watch the video below.

Five reasons to customise your nsquared education apps.

Did you know that you can add curriculum relevant content to nsquared education apps?

nsquared’s education admin portal enables you to easily change content in many of the education software applications.
This means that you can either use the content packs that we create and upload for you, or you can create your own content.

Libraries and Community centres are using this feature to promote current global and local events in an entertaining and educational way that’s fun for everyone.
School teachers and school librarians are also using the web based content management tool to easily introduce content that’s relevant to units of learning.

Some ideas for content you can create:
1. Create a jigsaw puzzle of a picture from your last school field trip.
2. Build a new pack for nsquared makewords to teach the students how to spell words related to your current class project.
3. Help students to recognize items from the latest history lessons by adding them to a game of nsquared snap.
4. Use nsquared missing card to help students solve maths problems.
5. Help the students to remember the artifacts they have been learning about by collecting them in nsquared herding.

“It has the benefit of engaging students who we’d normally see completely disconnected from their learning experiences”
Parramatta Marist College.

If engaging your students and community members is high on your agenda, visit the nsquared admin portal to add new and exciting content to your software.
Not sure how to get to the admin portal? Take a look in your hints and tips guide, or send the team at nsquared an email at sales@nsquaredsolutions.com.
